Rachel Li just completed the renovation of our 2-storey condo penthouse in Bukit Timah recently, it has been a long journey, and I would like to share my honest thoughts about the experience.
Rachel has been very steadfast in her work ethic and a joy to work with. It was our first time doing an extensive renovation which included hacking, re-wiring, and an overall rehaul. This was necessary as the unit is over 20 years old. Rachel was quick to point out tried and tested methods to improve the liveability and design elements of our house. For example, she expanded our kitchen and despite an initial headache on where to relocate our washing machine with several iterations, she found an elegant solution to place it in a nook next to the yard door, after precisely accounting for the measurements.
No renovation journey can be 100% smooth, but despite the occasional hiccups here and there (mostly on the contractor side), Rachel was truly tireless in helping us to resolve these issues. These included relocating our staircase light when she found out it was incorrectly positioned. There were also plumbing, outdoor painting and other miscellaneous issues but she was always very timely in helping us resolve this. Sometimes we would message her and she would not reply us as she was busy, but the very next day, the contractor would knock on our door having already received Rachel’s brief to fix the issue.
We marvelled at her efficiency. Sometimes Rachel would be so involved that she would even start bending, squatting or putting herself in tiring positions to try and diagnose the occasional issue, despite her pregnancy. We always urged her not to do so but I think this is a testament to the lengths she is willing to go to ensure a job well done regardless of her personal circumstances. Overall, we’re satisfied and happy with how our renovation journey turned out. Richard, please give Rachel a good big bonus or pay raise this new year! She truly deserves it.
